Stand Tall - Drug Prevention
Stand Tall - Drug Prevention Program
What is Stand Tall?
Stand Tall
is a voluntary approach to drug prevention open to all students and staff.
Stand Tall
members of the DePaul Catholic Community pledge to remain drug free and submit to random drug testing.
Stand Tall
provides students and staff members an opportunity to take a personal and collective stand against drug abuse.
Stand Tall
members realize they are not alone when they make the courageous and correct choice to say no to drugs.
How Does it Work?
Parent and student sign the membership contract.
All members are baseline tested in September of each school year.
Random testing takes place each school day throughout the academic year.
Each member is assigned a number and the numbers are randomly selected by the students in Stand Tall.
Screening is through a urine sample supervised by the school nurse.
What if a Student Tests Positive?
The specimen is sent out to a certified laboratory for confirmation.
The president, principal and school nurse will meet with parents and student.
Parent and principal will sign a contract to require the student to participate in a counseling program.
While in treatment, a student may continue to attend school and all school activities.
Failure to attend counseling sessions, refusing to sign or abide by the contract or a second positive urine test are grounds for dismissal from DePaul Catholic High School.
Under certain circumstances an observed specimen will be required.
