Mrs. Dacles, Non-Public Teacher of the Year Finalist

DePaul Catholic High School Social Studies Teacher, Bethany Duane- Dacles, has been named as New Jersey Non-Public Teacher of the Year Finalist for 2011. Ms. Duane-Dacles, of Pompton Plains, was awarded by the New Jersey Council for American Private Education, on October 11, 2011 in Trenton, New Jersey.
With a background in business, Mrs. Duane-Dacles began her tenure as a Business teacher at DePaul almost 30 years ago. After twists and turns, with stints as a teacher and administrator at Gibbs College and Dover Business College, she found herself back at DePaul in 2005, this time as a Social Studies teacher. “I believe fate brought me back here,” stated Duane-Dacles. “DePaul Catholic is 'The Place to Be' because I want to be here. I like the sense of community; the feeling of the DePaul Family.”
Students, faculty, and administration are happy to have her here. Principal Anthony Sciaino describes her as “a role model to her peers as well as to her students through her dedication above and beyond expectations”. Mrs. Duane-Dacles works on a number of service projects in partnership with the Father English Community Center. She is also a volunteer for the Pequannock Township Food Pantry, a member of the Chancel Choir in her church, and mentor for the DePaul Interact Club, sponsored by the Wayne Rotary. She also enjoys traveling with her husband.
