Dear DePaul Catholic Family:

Despite the pronouncement of the groundhog seer, spring has arrived early this year and the warm weather buoys the spirits and causes our senior class to begin counting the days to graduation. There is much work yet to do, however, deciding on which college to attend, preparing for final exams, attending the prom, and many other important senior-year tasks. This year’s senior class has assumed a leadership role in so many ways; recognizing the obligations they have to their school, their God and their families. They have instilled a vibrant spirit which will hopefully be maintained by senior classes yet to come. Many have already be accepted into some excellent colleges and universities proving that hard work produces lasting rewards. We will miss them when they leave but take pride in their accomplishments and pray for their future success.
The Champion Program is working well. The mentors are meeting regularly with their students making sure they are performing to the best on their ability, getting them tutoring help when needed and emphasizing the need to stay focused throughout the school year. We have seen positive results so far and are expecting academic progress to be a cornerstone of the program. Our winter sports teams have performed well. The wrestling team won the State Regional championship for the third consecutive year and both the boys and girls basketball teams lost in the State Regional finals. The spring sports are preparing for their season and thankful for the warm weather. The students in the spring musical, Give My Regards to Broadway, are spending long hours in rehearsals and their performances are eagerly awaited. The DePaul Talent Show in late February featured a variety of skilled singers, dancers and musicians. It is truly impressive how many talented young men and women we have at DePaul. DePaul Catholic is blessed and for this we are grateful.
As we approach Holy Week and Easter Sunday, our students are taking the time to participate in Stations of the Cross, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and prayer so that our faith remains a central part of who we are and what we strive to become. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers and may you have a grace-filled Easter. God bless.
