Service Activities
As a faith community, we are called to minister to the students and one another. Relationships are at the heart of that ministry. It is through our relationships with the students and one another (not just the programs we provide or the things we teach) that Christ is made visible.
Spiritual Life Components
Christian Service Program
In the tradition of St. Vincent DePaul in serving those who are most in need, we look forward to the 2011-2012 Christian Service Program. St. John gives us the charge from Christ himself, that as we consider ourselves members of a Christian Community, we are reminded that our first command is to love one another. Christian service is defined as the direct provision of a basic human good to a person or persons in remarkable need.
The DePaul Catholic CSP program intention is that you will work with people in remarkable needs – people who are poor, homeless, sick, dying, mentally or physically challenged, or in need of education, supervision, or companionship.

Peer Ministry Program
One of the key components of Spiritual Life at DePaul Catholic High School is the Peer Ministry Program.
Senior students are selected to be part of the Peer Ministry program. These students are guided in faith and receive training in communication and interpersonal skills and serve the student community in leadership roles. The program is comprised of several service areas: Social Justice, Music Ministry, Peer Ministry, Prayer & Liturgy.
The role of a peer minister is one that models the behavior required of our students in the handbook and enables our school community to express its connection to God. which includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Be on time to school and class
- Dress code
- No gum chewing
- Full participation in Peer Ministry events and activities
- Small group leaders during Freshman field day and grade level retreats throughout the school year
- Facilitate grade level retreats
- Availability to help your assigned Freshman with any questions or concerns
- September leadership day retreat
Any junior interested in becoming a Peer Minister for the 2012 -2013 school year must complete the required paperwork and interview process. In addition, attendance is required at our Peer Ministry Leadership retreat on Sunday May 21 from 9-4pm. If you are unable to attend this retreat you must participate in a ministry/service or leadership event prior to September 2012. You all must provide documentation that you completed this requirement.

During the week of January 30-February 3 we will be celebrating Catholic Schools week. Our focus during Catholic Schools week will be on cross-curricular projects presented by each department. Each department will be responsible for creating a cross-curricular lesson, presentation or hosting a guest speaker on their assigned day to be shared with the entire school.
Peace & Justice Week: March 26-30: “We Are Called”
Our school wide focus for this week will be on how each of us is called by God to promote “nurturing the dignity of each person while fostering a communal commitment of love and service to all of God's people” as stated in our mission statement. During this week, we will celebrate Vocations Awareness Day with visiting religious from our diocese. We will also be hosting Peace & Justice Day with a guest speaker.
