4th Annual Cardboard City

The Sophomore Honors Theology students participated in a solidarity retreat for the homeless. The "Cardboard City" retreat is now in its fourth year at DePaul Catholic. Throughout the month, students prepared various reflective experiences to learn more about poverty and homelessness. To culminate their lessons on the Catholic Social Teaching principle of "Preferential Option for the Poor and the Vulnerable" the students prepared a twelve hour retreat at the school. Teams built cardboard shelters to sleep in, they created a prayer labyrinth, and they participated in meditations in the school's chapel to be more conscious and respectful of the plight of the poor.

The entire De Paul community helped raise funds for the Junior year "Midnight Run" events that involves reaching out to the homeless in New York City several times throughout the year, providing food, clothing and supplies.
