The Class of 2019 is DePaul Catholic High School's 60th graduating class. The class of 144 students was first greeted by our Principal, Mr. Petrocelli and led in prayer by Father Julio. Nicole Alonso, the Student Council President, led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Jesse Conklin.
Dr. Stickles, the school President, congratulated the students and thanked their parents for their commitment to strengthen their future in academics, athletics, activities, and faith. He reminded us that, to whom much is given, much is expected."
The Salutatorian, Sofia Nasiek, led the stroll down memory lane for the Class of 2019, advising her classmates of how far they have come as a class. Madison Nyhuis, the Valedictorian, challenged her classmates to continue their successes and find their passion.
Mr. Petrocelli announced numerous scholarships and advised the attendees that the Class of 2019 was awarded approximately $6.5 million dollars in academic scholarships and over $13 million dollars in athletic grants in aid.
Sebastian Ruiz presented Mrs. Meza with the Dawn Destefano Teacher Honorarium and thanked her on behalf of all the students for her continued drive to propel her students to excellence.
The Most Reverend Bishop Serratelli, Bishop of the Diocese of Paterson, addressed the graduates stressing the importance of relationships using Sir Winston Churchill as inspiration. He also challenged the graduates to work for the greater good, acting in the likeness of Christ through faith. He and Dr. Stickles then presented diplomas to each of the members of the Class of 2019.
Marian Siri, hospitalized and unable to make her graduation, was presented her diploma in person by Mr. Petrocelii. Congratulations to Marian and the Class of 2019!
