One way to check the validity of an email is to hover over the sender's name to see if the sender's name matches his or her legitimate email address. In the case of this latest scam, there is a disconnect. Whereas some of our adminstrators' names are attached to the ask, their email addresses are not found using the hover technique described.
Please protect yourselves in this season of giving. Do not respond to these emails. Responding is a way for the originator to aggregate additional legitimate emails. If your fraud radar goes off, listen to it. Call or otherwise contact the purported solicitor at his or her known email address and ask if the solicitation is genuine.
