All 9th grade students will take the ACT Aspire test in the Spring of their freshman year
10th grade students will take the PSAT in the Fall of this year as well as the ACT based Aspire in the Spring.
11th grade students will take the PSAT in the fall of this year. During the first semester, all juniors are also receiving SAT prep classes offered through DPCHS. The course is designed to prepare the students to take the January SAT.
All 11th grade students should have taken at least one SAT or ACT by Spring. Decisions on a student’s standardized testing plan should be made after consultation with their school counselor to determine which test may be more appropriate for that student.
Juniors will also take AP exams during the Spring of this year and may also be advised to take an SAT subject test if appropriate.
In the Fall, students should take the SAT or ACT based on their particular testing advisement from their counselor. This will also coincide with the timeframe a student has established to submit their college applications in the Fall.
SAT Subject tests will also be taken when appropriate, and AP exams will be given in May as per the College Board schedule.
Students enrolled in Honors and/or Advanced Placement courses are STRONGLY encouraged to take the Subject Test offered by the CollegeBoard at the completion of that course. These tests should ideally be taken in June.
Important Testing Reminder
All official score reports MUST be sent directly to the colleges online, through College Board or ACT. The Guidance Department does not send test scores. It is the responsibility of the student to make sure these scores are sent.
Failure to forward the official test scores will result in delays in the admission department’s review of your application.
